What are you doing tonight?

With the annual Allied Media Conference coming up in a couple months (July 16-19 to be exact), I thought I’d head over to their Web site and see what pre-conference events were in the works.

But first, for those not familiar with the Allied Media Conference:

AMC is the cornerstone project of the Allied Media Projects, which started out as the Midwest Zine Conference in ’99, and has evolved into a multi/alternative media d.i.y. hot bed for those who know it takes real alternative media to shed light on social injustice. The idea is simple really: to cultivate strategies for a more just and creative world.

Nice. We like. Power to the people, right on. No wonder folks come from all across the country to check it out — if I didn’t already live here I certainly would.

If you head over to Motor City Brewing Works tonight at 8 p.m. for the Silent Art Auction to Benefit Allied Media Conference, you’d be putting in some serious karma work while enjoying a beutiful, if not utterly kick-ass, Tuesday night in the city. Winners announced at 11 p.m. It’s a radical cause, so grab some beers and pizza and buy some art for your pad. You owe it to yourself …

And, while you’re there be sure to inquire about Detroit Cheers dollars
