It's an Antiques Roadshow dream come true. Meagan Nowicki was shopping at Habitat for Humanity's Habitat Metro Restore on Greenfield in Detroit when a painting caught her eye. She says she thought it looked familiar and for a price tag of $12, she couldn't pass it up.

Because Nowicki does a lot of estate sale shopping and refurbishing, she decided to have the painting appraised, expecting it was worth more than what she paid for it.

Turns out the piece of art is worth an astonishing $900. Detroit artist, the late Max Shaye painted the piece before he died in 2004.

Shaye's work has been displayed in the White House and the Pentagon, to give you some idea of his standing in the national art scene.
