It may be unlikely, but News Hits is hoping that among our legions of readers is the man who slipped anti-Islamic flyers under windshields of three cars parked at the Islamic Center of Ann Arbor last week. According to Nazih Hassan, president of the center, a white, middle-aged guy allegedly placed the flyers that read, “Muslims go home” and “Death to the Muslim infidels.” The brave soul fled when confronted by Islamic Center members.
The flyers also stated, “Rabih Haddad, no bond, no mercy.” Haddad is a member of the Islamic Center and served there temporarily as an imam. He also co-founded an Islamic charity Global Relief Foundation, which the federal government suspects funded terrorist groups. The Immigration and Naturalization Services arrested Haddad at his home in December for overstaying his visa, which expired in 1999. He is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
Hassan contacted Ann Arbor police after the incident, but Sgt. Michael Logghe says they have no suspects at this time. The police agreed to increase patrols at the center.
“Obviously, we are concerned that it was not an isolated incident,” says Hassan.
