Maybe state Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-Detroit) should have attended the REAL soiree last week. After all, the man who recently announced plans to run for mayor is attempting to keep the casinos out of his district and off the east riverfront.

Last month, Clarke introduced two casino bills, which he says have strong bipartisan support. The first, if enacted, would require Detroit voter approval for casinos on the east riverfront. The other would prohibit Michigan cities that obtain private property through condemnation from building casinos on that property for at least 10 years.
