It’s always dicey to make predictions a century in advance, but a piece in The New York Times this week reprinted a would-be prophecy from UCLA professor Matthew E. Kahn, who argues that Detroit could be a haven for thousands of “environmental refugees” a hundred years hence. The story quotes him thusly:
So, the good news is that things are already looking up for Detroit. The New York Times would seem to be saying, “Detroit, if you were one of the last places on earth, we might consider moving there.”
