Search no further — Do we really need another search engine on the Web? Is there life beyond Google? Sure, there’s Yahoo and Dogpile and Webcrawler, but does anyone even use them anymore? When was the last time you heard someone say, “I dunno, but I’ll Alta Vista it and find out.”

And yet, despite the glut of search engines, there’s one more to add to the fray: a9.com, another venture brought to you by the folks at Amazon. Launched last year, A9 aims to take the best elements of all search engines and combine them into one granddaddy of a fact-finder. In actuality, it’s pretty darn similar to Google — the main difference being it shows both text and image results on one page, whereas Google still has the two functions segregated. Also, your various searches are saved in your very own personalized history. Kinda creepy, actually.
