If you had unlimited funds and resources to create a public transit system for southeast Michigan, what would it include? More bus lines? Commuter rail that runs from Pontiac to downtown Detroit? Transit security? Or all the above? The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments’ (SEMCOG) is holding a Transit Visioning Summit this month and wants your input. The information will be used to devise a transit plan for metro Detroit, says Garry Bulluck, SEMCOG’s senior planner of transportation programs.
“We will take the information and come back in April and say this is what you told us so far and this is how we can address what you want,” says Bulluck.
A detailed implementation strategy will then be devised, he says.
So get on board and make sure that your voice is heard.
Summit meetings will be held Jan. 23 in Southfield at the Centre for the Arts, Jan. 25 in Warren at the Van Dyke Park Hotel and Jan. 30 at Detroit’s Cobo Center. Each meeting will have two sessions: 1:30-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
