Riled-up never sounded so groovy. Call it agitgroove, or whatever hep blogoids prefer; though this Detroit quartet (made up of players from Legendary Creatures, Marco Polio and Red China) may sound like they’re in a sort of a pinball punk mode for eight out of this EP’s 12 tumbling minutes, their musical chemistry keeps a sure grip on the nitro; cymbal slams, suckerpunch snares and sinewy bass grooves allow guitars and growling vocals plenty of space to compete ferociously. Things settle in for a dark, dreamy psyche surf scene at the end, albeit clouded with creepy (but still-poetic) lyrics and swirling reverb.
