Jack White’s quest to seemingly play every venue in the Detroit area continues with what will be his biggest local concert yet.

The rock star’s newly announced tour includes a stop at Pine Knob, a legendary concert venue outside of Detroit with a capacity of more than 15,000. It would be his first time playing there.

The show is set for Saturday, July 25.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, with fan presales also available.

For the past 20-plus years, White has typically performed back-to-back shows at Detroit’s Masonic Temple, which has a capacity of around 4,650. That venue is a special place to him: his late mother Teresa Gillis, who passed last month at 95, worked there as an usher, and in 2013 he generously paid $142,000 in back taxes to help save the venue. In return, the Masonic Temple renamed its smaller venue the Masonic Jack White Theatre. In 2022, White married his longtime girlfriend Olivia Jean, originally from the Detroit area, onstage during a concert at the Masonic Temple.

Over the years White has started performing at other Detroit-area venues, including Little Caesars Arena, the Fox Theatre, and Saint Andrew’s Hall.

Pine Knob was once the largest outdoor amphitheater in the U.S., and is beloved for its tailgating culture and general admission lawn tickets — so much so that for many years, locals refused to call it by its corporate name, DTE Energy Music Theatre, and celebrated when it reverted back to Pine Knob.

Hot off the heels of the induction of White’s former band the White Stripes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November, the Pine Knob concert will be a great way to celebrate a hometown hero.
