Unofficially known as “Detroit’s Mr. Jazz” and “the Jazz Mayor of Detroit,” Marcus Belgrave may be the most respected person on the Detroit jazz scene. He’s worked with everybody from Ray Charles to John Sinclair, and has garnered a clutch of sought-after awards. Now he spends much of his time working with young musicians, passing on the tradition of jazz to a new generation.
