For its 49th version, the Ann Arbor Folk Festival is mixing things up.
Instead of its typical two nights of rising and established folk and roots acts at the Hill Auditorium, the festival will present a full concert from a headlining artist on Friday, Jan. 30 followed by the traditional format on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The festival, which serves as a fundraiser for nonprofit Ann Arbor venue The Ark, says it decided to make the change based on audience feedback.
While the Friday night headliner will be announced on Monday, Nov. 17, in the meantime, the festival announced its Saturday lineup.
Saturday performers include Grand Rapids indie rock band the Crane Wives, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Amos Lee, Los Angeles folk rock band Dawes, Uganda-via-Texas act Jon Muq, University of Michigan student and soundscape artist Nat Timmerman (who performs as Rabbitology), and Massachusetts singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau, who will serve as the festival’s MC.
Tickets to the festival range from $56.60-$281.50 and are available to purchase at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for members and 10 a.m. on Friday for the general public.
