A local chain that has developed a cult following with its fried chicken and New York-style pizzas is opening its first Detroit location next month.

Saroki’s Crispy Chicken & Pizza is set to open inside the new Griswold Market & Spirits at 735 Griswold St. in downtown Detroit’s Security Trust Building.

The Detroit store is Saroki’s first to not be located inside of a gas station.

“This is a major step forward for our brand, and we’re proud to bring Saroki’s to the heart of the city for both new and loyal customers,” Todd Saroki, founder of Saroki’s Crispy Chicken & Pizza, said in a press release. “Detroit is one of the most dynamic food cities in the country, and being part of the growth and energy in downtown is incredibly meaningful to us.”

The new store is expected to open on Monday, May 4 and will be available for carryout and delivery.

Saroki’s was founded by brothers Todd and Curtis Saroki in 2012 and now includes more than 20 locations across Michigan.
