A cafe chain that bills itself as “a vibrant gourmet toast, juice and coffee bar” is getting ready to open its first location in Detroit.
Located near Campus Martius park at 89 Monroe St., Toastique is set to open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The chain was founded in Washington, D.C. in 2018 and boasts a health-conscious menu with items like avocado toast, açaí bowls, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, coffees, and more.
The Detroit store will be run by six residents who are also siblings: Nour Kanaan, Sarah Kanaan, Hanadi Kanaan, Aya Kanaan, Abbas Kanaan, and Zeinab Ballout.
“We’ve selected Detroit as our first Toastique location because we felt like the city really needed something like this; there’s so much growth happening here but not many quick and healthy options for people working or living downtown,” Nour said in a statement. “The focus on clean ingredients, vibrant dishes and great-tasting food really spoke to us. Everything on the menu has a purpose behind it — every ingredient is there for a reason, and it’s all nutrient-packed and full of benefits.”
The siblings say they want to be part of the community by working with local artists and small businesses.
“We’re very focused on building a loyal customer base who feels like they’re part of the Toastique family,” Ballout said. “We really want to make our first location something special that people keep coming back to, where you not only get to eat something delicious but something that’s actually good for you too.”
The Detroit location will offer deals and other giveaways during its opening week, including $50 in Toastique rewards for the first 100 customers who spend at least $10 on Nov. 8, a free drip coffee with a purchase of $10 or more on Nov. 9, $5 juice on tap (12 oz.) with any purchase on Nov. 10, free coffee or espresso with any purchase on Nov. 11, and $6 smoothies (16 oz.) on Nov. 12.
The store will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
