Metro Times Blowout is now in its 18th year! This means that if it were a person, it could sign up for military service, or pretend that it cares about voting. Thankfully, it’s not a person, but a festival — a very badass festival, if we don’t mind saying ourselves.
The festival has spread its wings from its Hamtramck origins to also take over some of our favorite venues in Detroit and Ferndale. It’s also enlarged its scope to include international acts (Canada is international, right?), while never losing sight of its grassroots flavor. The majority of these bands are local.
This is definitely one of the most legendary music events in the metropolitan Detroit area at this point. Over the course of Blowout’s history, thousands of bands from every conceivable genre have played in venues large and small. It’s there that many fans have stumbled upon their favorite new bands. The same thing is destined to happen this year.
There are so many shows, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve created one long, alphabetized list with descriptions and links to music at metrotimes.com/blowout2015. For the most updated information on showtimes, venues, and dates, please check mtblowout.com.
