Kyle Pavone, the longtime vocalist for metro Detroit based metalcore band We Came as Romans, was pronounced dead Saturday morning at the age of 28.

The news of Pavone's death was confirmed on social media by his bandmates Sunday. "Kyle’™s tragic loss came too early in his life and those of his bandmates," the band wrote in a statement. "All are devastated by his passing."

According to TMZ, Pavone was admitted to a Michigan hospital on Aug. 19. No cause of death has been determined.

In his final tweet posted on Aug. 18, Pavone quoted an ominous lyric from the band's 2017 track "Promise Me," which was also mirrored in the band's official statement.

"Today music lost another great with the passing of Kyle Pavone of We Came as Romans. Kyle’™s tragic loss came too early in his life and those of his bandmates. All are devastated by his passing. We will miss his smiles, his sincerity, his concern for others, and his impressive musical talent. In lieu of flowers, we will be providing information regarding charity donations this coming week. The family and the band wish to thank their fans and the music community for all of their love and support as they navigate their grief. “Will I Be Remembered or Will I Be Lost in Loving Eyes?”

We Came as Romans were the subject of a 2009 Metro Times cover story, just a year after Pavone stepped in as the band's vocalist and keyboardist. Over the past 10 years, the band released five studio albums, including 2013's chart-topping LP Tracing Back Roots. In support of the band's 2017 release, Cold Like War, We Came as Romans were set to embark on a 17-date tour with Bullet for My Valentine starting Sept. 15.

Bandmate Joshua Moore calls Pavone "The craziest, goofiest, most funny and lovable kid," adding "I miss you so much."
