Listen, we’re not telling you what to say. We’re also not going to lie: These opinions are probably some of the most unpopular in Detroit. How do we know? Well, we asked.

We asked our Instagram followers what the most unpopular opinions in Detroit were — ones that go against the grain, buck popular sentiment, and will have you standing alone —  and boy, there were a lot. From hot takes on Detroit’s music to the state of our football team, these are the opinions that will get you canceled if you dare to speak them.

So be warned: If you want to make or keep friends, it’s probably best that, if you possess these opinions, you keep them to yourself.

Soda vs. pop What do you call that beloved sugary-sweet, carbonated beverage (other than the dentist’s worst nightmare)? The debate bubbles on as to whether it’s “pop” or “soda” (or if you’re in the deep South, simply “Coke”). The correct name has become geographically polarizing, but here in the Great Lakes State, it will always be pop. Credit: Photo via Shutterstock
