'Spirit of Detroit' turns sexy 60 — gets his own party

Detroit has a lot to brag about. But one of the more notable sights is this 26-foot bronze, totally ripped hottie. His name, of course, is "The Spirit of Detroit" — and he's turning the big 6-0.

To celebrate, "The Spirit of Detroit" is getting his own damn party on Saturday, May 12. Before heading to Spirit Plaza for a special presentation honoring the sculpture's history, tier 2 ticket holders ($60) are invited to celebrate in the lobby the Minoru Yamasaki-designed building at One Woodward Ave. where they will enjoy cocktails, canapes, and tunes provided by Ben Sharkey from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Another ticket package is available (tier 1) for $250 and will include the features previously mentioned as well as dinner and a performance by the Marlon Hayden Jazz Trio in The Beacon which overlooks the sculpture.

No word on whether "The Spirit of Detroit" is single.

The Spirit of Detroit celebration will take place on Saturday, May 12 from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. at Spirit Plaza and One Woodward Ave.; Tickets are $60-$250 and can be purchased here.
