Saving the Hamtramck Disneyland is something we can all get behind

Aug 18, 2016 at 8:10 am

Hamtramck Disneyland, the popular art installation by the late Ukrainian-born artist Dmytro Szylak, was sold to Hatch Art earlier this year, and a crowdsourcing effort to help them cover the costs of a $100,000 purchase began shortly after.

“Save Hamtramck Disneyland” launched through Patronicity with a goal of $50,000 by Aug. 20. The Michigan Economic Development Corp., and Michigan State Housing Development Authority have agreed to match the donations if the goal is met. In a last-ditch effort to meet the goal, Small’s is throwing a shindig to help raise the rest of the dough. Music will be provided by locals James Linck, Go Tiger Go, and Rayning. If you can make the event, you’re urged to donate at patronicity.com/project/save_hamtramck_disneyland.

Thursday, doors at 8 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m.: 10339 Conant, Hamtramck; 313-873-1117; smallsbardetroit.com; $10 suggested donation with a pay-as-you-can hour between 8 and 9 p.m.
