Rodriguez stops for hometown performance at Detroit’s Garden Theater

For most of his musical career, Rodriguez has existed in relative obscurity. However, that all changed when a 2012 documentary titled Searching for Sugar Man sought to find the real identity of a musician who hit it big in South Africa in the ’70s but disappeared into legend.

Fortunately for us, the Academy Award-winning documentary helped to revitalize the Detroit-born musician’s career, bringing his music and his story to a whole new audience.
