You might know local musician Josh Malerman from his work with the High Strung, but the rocker has more talents than just music. He’s also an author, and he’s releasing a new book of short Halloween stories called Goblin. On this evening he will perform a reading from the text while composer Steve Greene casts spooky synths that will help build the tension of the story. The evening will also include a Q&A session moderated by local music writer Jeff Milo.

The event, entitled Josh Malerman and Steve Greene Know What Scares You, is on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Ferndale Area District Library. 222 E. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale; 248-546-2504; ferndalepubliclibrary.org; free.
