A Detroit Dog Rescue adoption is giving more people than usual a reason to smile. Since it was posted on June 6, this photo has been shared more than 4,000 times.

The story of Sir Wiggleton and his new owner, Dan Tillery, has even made headlines around the country — from the cover of the Oakland Press to Good Morning America

According to BarkPost, Tillery and his girlfriend Megan just bought their first home, and they wasted no time adopting a dog to share it with. They renamed Sir Wiggleton "Diggy" after bringing him home on Monday.

Diggy was brought in to Detroit Dog Rescue, the only no-kill shelter in Detroit, from Detroit Animal Control. He spent almost 100 days in the shelter before he was adopted.

One of DDR's Facebook followers, Pam Warsinske Munday, said it best. "I pray all this press helps raise awareness to shelter animals and helps raise much needed $$$!"
