Sometimes glass blowing events sound like a potheads-only type event, but that typecast is no more. You’ll see jewelry and figures that’ll make you think twice about getting a diamond for your engagement ring. In addition to great glass artists such as Phil Siegel, Banjo, and Snodgrass, there’ll be live painting, shows, and music. This three-day festival benefits Art Road Nonprofit, which is working to bring arts education back to Detroit classrooms.

Friday- Sunday; 1600 Clay St., Detroit; $15 a day; $25 for the weekend; visit themichiganglassproject.com for more information.
