Jen Kirkman.
Comedian, bestselling author, and nonmodel Jen Kirkman got her start by appearing on Chelsea Lately for roundtable discussions. She has a knack for saying what we’re all thinking (“I don’t want to have kids because I’m selfish and I don’t want to gain weight”), and talking about taboo-ish topics.

She also recently released a line of jewelry through Baublebar — it sounds really bougie (and it is), but pieces include gold-plated necklaces that say, “Feminist AF.” So, at least someone is profiting off her struggle to dismantle the patriarchy.

Jen Kirkmam performs at the Majestic Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Doors open at 8 p.m.; 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-9700; majesticdetroit.com; Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door; 16 and older only.
