At least one credit card company wants to turn those teens loitering at the mall into plastic-packing shopping machines. Making the mall rats’ dream a reality, Visa Pocketcard allows teens to "charge" online and in stores.
Advertised as the "driver’s permit" of credit cards, it’s really more like a debit card. There is never any interest or fee, and users can only charge up to the amount they deposit in an account attached to the card.
Pocketcard claims its aim is to teach teens lessons about money management and debt. Funds can be added to the Pocketcard online and over the phone, making it faster and easier to make "credit" available to eager young consumers. Find out more at www.pocketcard.com.
