Many metro Detroiters have memories of heading into Lynch’s for some ballet shoes and special dance tights. Others remember renting elaborate costumes, be it for Halloween, Easter, or Christmas.

But, according to shop owner Patrick Lynch, the beloved Dearborn store will close after liquidating inventory. The building’s been bought and the new owners have asked Lynch and his crew to be out by July 1.

Lynch, who has been working in the store since he was a child and has owned the business for the past 40 years, told the Freep he is looking forward to catching up on Saturday morning cartoons once the shop shutters.
