Don’t have a cow, man — but if you dress like one, you can get a free fried chicken sandwich.

Chick-fil-A is opening its first Ann Arbor location, and to celebrate it’s offering a free entrée to diners who wear cow print on its opening day.

The promotion is a reference to the Atlanta-based fried chicken chain’s long-running advertising campaign, which feature cows eagerly encouraging people to “Eat More Chikin.”

The chain says the promotion applies to anyone wearing cowprint, “whether it’s a full cow costume or a simple cow-spotted accessory.”

The restaurant is located at 3310 Washtenaw Ave. It’s set to open at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.

The new store is owned and operated by local resident Joyce Mueller, originally of Grosse Ile.

“I fell in love with Ann Arbor when I moved here for graduate school and never left — I even raised my children here!” Mueller said in a statement. “My passion for Michigan and hospitality run deep: I’m one of four generations of University of Michigan alums in my family, held a leadership role at the university, and started as a Chick-fil-A Team Member at 15. My goal is to create a restaurant that cares for and gives back to the community that means so much to my family, a place where everyone feels welcome and at home.”

The store will create about 80 jobs in the community, the company says.
