Detroit Women In Design launched a new, four-part initiative built to amplify, invest in, and celebrate the women shaping Detroit’s fashion and design scene. In partnership with DUHTROIT and platinum sponsor, Detroit Shipping Company, the Midtown venue will serve as the catwalk for the final reveal of runway ready styles!
Over the last month, The Design Lab: A women-only collaborative space of photographers, stylists, models, designers, and make-up artists have been working to create powerful, portfolio-level visuals.
Selected visuals from the month-long lab will be featured in a public gallery at Detroit Shipping Company and launched by the interactive fashion show.
Five, $200 scholarships will be awarded to emerging women creatives in fashion, styling, or creative direction— plus mentorship from established creatives in their field. Recipients will be decided by an all female panel of judges.
The event will take place Sunday, September 28th. It is Free, All Ages at Detroit Shipping Company 7-9pm 474 Peterboro 48201.
This initiative is about building real infrastructure for women-led talent in Detroit design. From concept to production to public recognition, women are at the center of it all. Attendees are encouraged to serve their own lewks on Sunday.
