Techno Christmas is upon us, y’all.

What better way to prepare for the incredible three-day electronic music festival than a techno bill led by Detroit’s own Omar-S. A product of the ’70s — an influence that is alive in his mixes through his analog-sounding approach — the low-key Omar-S first made waves in 2003 before becoming an international cult house favorite.

This year, the producer released 1992, a follow-up 12-inch to the four EPs he released last year. Detroit acid-house duo ATAXIA (Ted Krisko and Ricker) join the lineup, along with rave staple Dru Ruiz — who notably closed out the first DEMF in 2000 — and TV Lounge resident Loren.

Detroit, the House of Techno XVII will start at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at Marble Bar; 1501 Holden St., Detroit; 313-338-3674; eventseeker.com. Tickets are $10.
