According to a recent Detroit News/WDIV-TV poll, 59.8% of Michigan voters age 18-29 favor legalizing marijuana for recreational use. The poll, conducted by marketing research company Glengariff Group Inc., also shows that of the 600 likely Michigan voters polled, overall 52.1% were opposed to the idea.
Nationwide, the numbers are different. Gallup reported last fall that support for legalization of recreational marijuana has surged nationwide to 58% of Americans in favor of legalizing the plant.
