Tonight (12.21.12) – 9pm in Ferndale at the Loving Touch: Troy Gregory, Carjack and Pupils will perform a benefit concert for FernCare Free Health Clinic.

To commemorate this special occasion, Carjack (a.k.a. Lo-fi Bri) visited the recording space of Pupils to lay down some raps for their cover of Run DMC’s iconic hip-hop-holiday classic: “Christmas in Hollis”

An Old School rapping-party gets kicked into a keyed-up, leaning post-punk mutation, live and wired! Makes sense, though – considering some of Lo-fi’s most formative influences include iconic hip-hop beatmakers (constantly digging WJLB & the Electrifyin’ Mojo!) …while Pupils’ lead singer has a history (pre-Detroit-rock scene) of experimenting with beat-boxing and hip-hop-tinged poetic rants on the coffee house scene.

Anyways – Hope you enjoy this special cover-song collaboration.

Listen/stream: Pupils ft. Carjack – “X-Mas in Hollis” (Run DMC cover)
