Tattoos are seen as one of the most outward expressions of self. Not only does the art reflect the person getting inked, it reflects the person doing the inking. There’s a common misconception that the darker your skin, the harder it is to be tattooed — but that’s not true. These Black, Detroit-based tattoo artists show that with pure talent and a whole lot of skill, skin color does not determine a proper canvas.
