Good news for people who love, well, news: Metro Times, Detroit’s award-winning alt-weekly, has an immediate opening for an ass-kicking, muckraking staff writer.

Ideal candidates are equally at home writing short, snappy blog posts as they are doing 3,000-word investigative features. They should know how cultivate a wide array of sources, have experience in digging through public records, and have familiarity with new-media best practices. Two years or more of relevant experience is preferred; knowledge of Detroit and Michigan moves you to the front of the line. A sense of humor doesn’t hurt, either.

If interested, send a résumé, cover letter, links or clips of at least three kick-ass stories, and three story ideas to [email protected].
