Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will deliver his fifth State of the City address tonight, and for the first since being re-elected mayor last fall.

Issues Duggan is expected to discuss include schools and crime. The Detroit News reports Duggan will outline new partnerships with Detroit schools and describe plans to spread "crime-fighting tactics through precincts across Detroit."

The speech will take place at Western International High School in Southwest Detroit. It begins at 7 p.m., and you can watch it live here

Duggan's proposed 2019 budget, unveiled last month, included an $8 million infusion for the Detroit Police Department, which would allow for the hiring of 141 new full time employees.

The Free Press reported the budget also would have also allowed for the expansion of the Project Green Light surveillance program and Ceasefire, a program that aims to reduce gang-related gun violence through intervention tactics. The program attempts to get gang members at high risk of committing violent crimes on a new path by linking them up with pastors, social services workers, and people who've lost loved ones to violent crime.
