In case you missed it, Michigan got hit with a pretty bad ice storm that has left over 600,000 people without power.
DTE Energy has sent out notices saying they expect all power to be restored by Sunday, Feb. 26.
Needless to say people are not happy (and very cold) and have taken to social media to express their disdain.
DTE made $1.1 billion in profits last year. They are choosing their profits over your family. Enough is enough. We need public power in Michigan. https://t.co/HfBEIpT7oN— Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) February 24, 2023DTE tryna fix everybody electricity at once bc yall tweeted them & yelled at them that its been 5 hours 💀 pic.twitter.com/JZGYUmnfBD— Bugey (@Ace__Bugey) February 24, 2023The DTE that got 100k outages can’t be the same DTE that sent a high ass bill the other day CANT BE!— Watch #AskJenn (@JENNontheRocks_) February 23, 2023.@DTE_Energy : Instead of burying the power lines, we'll spend millions hacking down every tree in metro Detroit that's within 25 feet of a line or pole. And all these generators sounds like half my neighborhood is mowing their lawn all night.— SkitchP (@skitchP) February 24, 2023I’m not trying to be dramatic or anything but at this point @DTE_Energy should be paying me— Ryan Callihan (@RCali21) February 23, 2023is dte even like MILDLY embarrassed???— orvella smith (@MsOrvella) February 24, 2023lol at DTE saying they’re “preparing” for the 21st century when we are already almost a quarter of the way through it https://t.co/cTqlgRijd0— Liza (@thamesnocturne) February 24, 2023I am thankful for all the DTE workers that are out in the bitter cold fixing things and getting power back on. On the other hand, how do we still have power outages in 2023? DTE made over $1B last year and continuously raises rates year over year. Something has to change. Fast. https://t.co/pHRRu3VnMl— Joe Jovanovic (@JosephJovanovic) February 24, 2023DTE betta not even think to send no mf bill next month— THE HARDEST. ❤️🔥 (@omg_deztanie) February 24, 2023A tree is sparking in our back yard…. @DTE_Energy said call the Fire Department and then FD said call DTE. 😩 #winterstorm #dte #michigan pic.twitter.com/Jzz9l3qc41— Rain M. He will work from early in the morning until late at night." pic.twitter.com/Wlau4ORZZx— Dave Phillips (@ByDavePhillips) February 23, 2023I cannot believe that DTE established a monopoly on energy and then is the least consistent power company in the state but the most expensive IN THE COUNTRY! Make it make sense— Dr. Miranda BAEly (@_HelloMyLove) February 24, 2023DTE Energy absolutely owes us groceries, gas if needed to travel for warmth & a discount for this bullshit they put us though. “It could be until Sunday that your power is back” my house is already at 62 degrees and dropping. Fuck you guys.— anatomyofcake 🎂 (@michaelabroooke) February 23, 2023Square up I’ll knock you the fuck out— Rumham35 (@Rumham35) February 24, 2023A DTE Energy facility in Michigan.
