Over 5,000 music fans attended the inaugural Hart of Detroit Summer Fest Thursday at Hart Plaza. The festival was a celebration of both Juneteenth and Detroit’s hip-hop music scene.

“I already knew it was going to be a success,” says DJSELPH, owner of SMT Financial Partners, who helped sponsor the event. “I was so confident it was going to be this kind of turnout that I invested in it mentally, physically, and spiritually.”

The event featured a block party and performances by Detroit rappers Icewear Vezzo, Peezy, Baby Money, Payroll, Sada Baby, Babyface Ray, 2100 Bagz, DBCO, 1UpTee, Ghetto Baby Boom, Babyfxce E, Krispylife Kidd, Allstar JR, GT, Samuel Shabazz, and Cash Kidd, and more.

“We made history,” says event organizer Chanel Domonique.
