A little brewery was born a year ago that's brought a stable of beers and a solid food menu to Lyon Township, and they're celebrating their first anniversary with a three-day festival.

Draught Horse Brewery has been quietly building a reputation as a brewer of some of the best beers in Michigan, and they want to share the bounty at their first annual Horse on the Hill Beer & Music Festival.

Three days of beer, barbecue, and live music begins Friday, Sept. 9 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 11.

The festival includes pig roasts and barbecue, special beer releases, games, and live music. A one-day pass is $10 and a two-day pass is $15, while admission is free on Sunday for the festival's family day — which includes a farmer's market, petting zoo, and more.

Draught horses will (of course!) be on site, too.

Mike Freeman and Slim Gypsy Baggage are the musical entertainment on the festival's opening night. Darwin Mamassian, Elroy Meltzer, Sweet Revenge, and Josh Liddell play on Saturday, with DJ Josh Liddell spinning between sets.

Draught Horse Brewery is located at 57721 Grand River Ave. in Lyon Township.

The Horse on the Hill Beer & Music Festival is from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9; noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10; and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11. One day passes are $10, two day passes are $15, and Sunday Family Day is free. Visit draughthorsebrewery.com for more information.
