Cafe 78 to open tomorrow at MOCAD

Making plans for lunch in Detroit's mid-city area tomorrow? Consider trying out the new cafe at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. It's called Cafe 78, and it has some pretty heavy hitters, culinarily speaking, behind it: Dave Kwiatkowski of Sugar House and Wright & Co. fame, and Marc Djozlija, also of Wright & Co., but a crusading Detroit chef in his own right.

It's slated to open tomorrow to coincide with the opening of the museum's winter exhibits. Its hours will extend beyond the museum hours, declaring its status as an attraction all its own. Breakfast service will begin at 8 a.m. with Anthology coffee and Zingerman's pastries. At 11 a.m. menus will switch to lunch and dinner at 11 a.m., including soups, salads, and sandwiches. Diners can also expect high-end craft bar service.

Cafe 78 will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The cafe will be closed Mondays.

MOCAD is at 4454 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-832-6622.
