Marvel's new Black Panther movie opened last week, garnering critical acclaim and breaking box office records. One reason for the film's big splash is the #BlackPantherChallenge, which calls on black activists and leaders to buy out entire theater screenings so kids who might not otherwise be able to can see the film for free.

Here in Detroit, rapper Tee Grizzley announced today he is hosting a screening for fans on Sunday, Feb. 25. The screening follows Grizzley's show with Jeezy at the Fillmore on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The "First Day Out" rapper made the announcement on his Twitter account today.

Grizzley's camp tells us that students from the Horatio Williams Foundation and Detroit public schools, including Frank Cody High School and Lessenger Middle School.

As Forbes reports:

The #BlackPantherChallenge, now a very popular hashtag, kicked off in Harlem when Frederick Joseph started a GoFundMe with the intent of taking all the kids from the neighborhood Boys & Girls Club to see a movie directed by a black man, starring a mostly black cast, featuring black women with natural hair and showcasing a black superhero as a lead character in a big budget Marvel movie. Some $400,000 later, the movement has spread well beyond New York City.

Even if you don't care for superhero movies, you should see it posthaste. It really is that good.
