In the latest residency program for Red Bull Arts Detroit (formerly known as Red Bull House of Art), Debra Lynn Manville, Jason Pulgarin, and Nathan Smith flex their bright paint palettes and unique perspectives.

Manville, of New Jersey, explores her interpretation of “silent art” through the use of abstract digital art. Los Angeles-based Jason Pulgarin expands on his stylized figurative watercolors inspired by street culture. And the work of Nathan Smith, also from L.A., plays with the ideas of anonymity through self-portraiture. As usual, there will be Red Bull and booze aplenty until supplies last. The party runs until 10 p.m.

Resident Artist Exhibition opening takes place on Friday, Aug. 3 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Red Bull Arts Detroit; 1551 Winder St., Detroit; 313-638-2971; redbullhouseofart.com; Event is free.
