Imagine this: Big Sean, the big screen, and big dreams.

It was announced Tuesday afternoon that Emagine Entertainment is teaming up with Detroit rapper Big Sean to open a luxury movie theater in downtown Detroit, Crain's Detroit reports.

The theater, which is slated to open in 2020, will have between 1,000-1,300 seats and 10 to 12 screens. Although a site has not been finalized, the venue will serve as a "multiplex," which will include a stage and performance space for live music.

Big Sean alluded to this very plan on last year's "No Hearts, No Love" from Double or Nothing, on which he raps "I'm about to build a movie theater downtown properly / And help revive the heart of the city."

Detroit lacks theaters that screen wide-releases. The Ren Cen 4, located inside of the RenCen for nearly 30 years, closed in 2015. The art-house theater Cinema Detroit located in Midtown and Eight Mile Road's Bel Air Luxury Cinema are the only two first-run theaters currently operational within city limits.
