POP + Offworld 128 Cadillac Square, Detroit; 313-961-9249 For three years, the nomadic arcade Offworld was just a couple pop-ups around downtown Detroit until last month. Must try: Classic tomato soup and grilled cheese to take you back to simpler times.
Gather Detroit 1454 Gratiot Ave., Detroit; 586-850-0205 Gather – an Eastern Market restaurant specializing in local foods that are cooked above a wood-burning grill reopened this month. This time, you can expect more of a focus on seasonality, local sourcing, and veggies, as Gather brings strong relationships with local farmers. Among those partnerships are Keep Growing Detroit, Grow Eastern Market, Farm Field Table, Coriander, Fairway Packing, Avalon, Calder Dairy, Cherry Capital, Fortune Fish, R Hirt, Werp Farms, and Fluffy Bottom Farms. Eastern Market Brewing Co’s 2515 Riopelle St., Detroit; 313-502-5165 The space including garage doors that swing up to provide an open air feel faces the street. Expect a traditional beer tap and utilized market ingredients. Photo via Instagram user @easternmarketbrewing

Shake Shack (troy) 850 W Big Beaver Rd., Troy; 248-817-1529 The burger joints keep coming! This is the second New York-based location to come to metro Detroit. The classic burgers, hot dogs, and crinkle cut fries never get old. Photo via Instagram user @mattmeyer02

Eatòri Market 1215 Griswold St., Detroit; 313-395-3030 The 2,500-square-foot space functions as a bar/restaurant with seating for 25 up front, and a specialty market offering grab-and-go items; dry goods; fresh produce; prepared foods; a soup and salad bar; and beer and wine. The Dow Beer Exchange 160 West Maple Rd., Birmingham; 248-642-9002 The Dow Beer Exchange – an extension of Dick O’ Dow’s – is up and trading in Birmingham. The beer exchange concept means prices of the 40 craft beers it has on tap fluctuates every 15 minutes based on demand – the more customers drink of a certain beer, the more prices increase, as that’s how the law of supply and demand works. El Volez Taco 6172 Toledo St., Detroit; The beloved El Taco Veloz taco truck is running a new location in the former Alley Taco space in Midtown’s Marcus Market. Giordanos 1224 Randolph St., Detroit; 313-752-0441 The Detroit location is Giordano’s second in Michigan and 16th across the nation. The other Michigan store is in Holland. Lady of the House 1426 Bagley Ave., Detroit; 313-818-0218 This location was long awaited by chef Kate Williams. The space seats around 65 and will feature Williams’ Irish-American heritage. According to its website, Williams specializes in “nose to tail, whole animal preservation and utilization, as well as highlighting local farms. Williams is also focusing on #uglyfood, which is about minimizing food waste on farms in an effort to feed more people and promote more hungry folks to grow their own food.” Photo via Instagram user @nbritsky

Kid Rock’s Made In Detroit 333 W Fort St # 1400., Detroit; 248-625-3797 Kid Rock’s Made In Detroit restaurant and bar is new and covered in Kid Rock memorabilia (if you’re into that). Although there is not a confederate flag that we know of, the restaurant serves, “classic Detroit and Southern-influenced dishes,” and “local beers and craft cocktails.” Photo via Facebook user @KoryWoods
