Shine the Light on Human Trafficking, a forum for survivors of labor and sex trafficking, will be held on Monday, April 20 at Grace Community Church in Detroit.

State senator Judy Emmons will host the forum.

Emmons has made it her mission to combat human trafficking during her time in the Senate, saying that sex trafficking in Michigan is on the rise and that that state is second only to Nevada in human trafficking cases.

"There are more people enslaved in America now than during the slavery era," she says.

In March Emmons spoke with M.L. Elrick on WJR about the human trafficking epidemic in Michigan. Listen to the podcast here

The forum will also review information on human trafficking and will include a discussion.

Grace Community Church is located at 21001 Moross Road. The forum will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.
