Visit a foreign country! Ok we know it’s just Canada, but hey, Canadas considered foreign to other states that dont have access to other countries. Take advantage of the opportunity and get some genuine poutine and Canadian bacon. Plus DUDE, IT’S A TUNNEL TO CANADA. And honestly, you might want to get way more familiar with the country just in case that one guy becomes president. Current rates are for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel are $4.75 from Detroit to Windsor and $4.50 for the return trip. (Photo via Wikipedia)Choose your own [coney] adventure.
With nothing on the menus over $6.95, the options are endless. The hardest part will be deciding whether to hit American or Lafayette. Just make sure you factor in a couple of buck to tip (don’t be a dick!) 114 and 118 W. Lafayette Blvd., DetroitGet some knowledge. With the price of college tuition rising (and the Internet only being good for so much), we could all use more educational opportunities. Lucky for Detroiters, we can visit the DIA for the free (residents of Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties), AND the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History ($8) or MOCAD ($5) for under $9. (Photo via DIA Facebook Photo Cred Eric Wheeler)Watch old movies, shows and plays at the Redford Theatre. Classic films call for a classy venue, right? Tickets are generally $5 and below. 17360 Lahser Rd., Detroit. (Photo via Facebook, Redford Theatre)Kick ass at Ms. Pac Man. And play other old school games at Marvins Marvelous Mechanical Museum! Though the vintage games are super cool, theres also other cool, weird shit thatll grab your attention. Convert your dollar bills into quarters, since most games are $0.50, and have a field day. 31005 Orchard Lake Rd., Farmington Hills. (Photo via Facebook, Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum)Ride the Detroit People Mover around the city approximately twelve times. At $0.75 for a round trip, $9 gets you a dozen rides. We already tried riding it for a full 24-hours (and we wouldnt recommend it), but it still provides a high look at the Downtown area, conveniently stopping within walking distance of Detroit hotspots. (Photo via Instagram user @thatalpha)Walk down the ‘Streets of Detroit’ at the Detroit Historical Museum. Walk the streets of Detroit without actually walking outside. Admission to the museum is totally free, which means you can use the rest of your hard-earned cash to get exactly one fancy cocktail across the street at Chartreuse (as in literally there’s only one that’s under $9). 5401 Woodward Ave., DetroitGo camping without the packing and traveling up North at the DNC Outdoor Adventure Center. An outdoor site within the city, the Outdoor Adventure Center provides a summer experience despite Michigans weird weather tantrums. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids. 1801 Atwater St., Detroit. (Photo via Instagram user @tiffanyjewel1982)Relive a part of Detroit history at Fort Wayne.
