The Detroit Burger Battle is celebrating 10 years of its popular food event by bringing back its previous winners to compete for the “Burger of the Decade.”

The event is also expanding to Grand Rapids for the first time.

The Detroit Burger Battle is set for Sunday, June 28 at Eastern Market, with the Grand Rapids event planned for July.

“Hitting the 10-year mark for the Detroit Burger Battle is incredibly special, and we wanted to do something really big to celebrate,” organizer Scott Rutterbush of Dine Drink Detroit said in a statement. “We’re bringing back some of our previous winners who will go up against newcomers to crown the ultimate Burger of the Decade. At the same time, the demand we’ve seen across the state made this the perfect year to take this energy to Grand Rapids.”

The Detroit event offers attendees unlimited samples of burgers from a dozen local restaurateurs while supplies last and vote for their favorites in the People’s Choice award. A panel of local celebrity judges will also choose their favorites.

The family-friendly event also includes live entertainment, merchandise vendors, and free games and activities. A full cash bar is also available.

Early bird tickets are available starting at $20 from burgerbattle.info.

The Grand Rapids edition is planned to take place Saturday, July 11 at Northern End of Riverside Park. More information is available at grburgerbattle.com.

The organizers also host a similar Detroit Taco Showdown event at Eastern Market, set for Sunday, July 26. More information is available at tacoshowdown.com.

“Whether we are judging the perfect sear on a patty or the balance of a craft margarita, these events are ultimately about bringing people together to celebrate our vibrant hospitality industry,” Rutterbush said. “Expanding to Grand Rapids while celebrating ten years at home makes this our biggest summer yet.”
