Mothers began in 2013 as the solo project of Athens, Ga.-based visual artist Kristine Leschper. It has since become a bit of a viral sensation thanks to her captivating and personal sound. Fleshed out with a full, engaging band, this is emotional yet proggy post-punk pop. It’s music for fans of De Artsen and Sleater-Kinney; it’s so good you won’t want the night to end. Our own wunderkind of post-’90s indie-rock, Stef, opens the show, so definitely show up on time, OK.

Sunday July 24, doors at 9 p.m.; El Club 4114 W. Vernor Hwy., Detroit; elclubdetroit.com; $10 in advance, $12 day of show.
