Located in the middle of the Auburn mixed-use development on Cass in Midtown, Hugh features a mix of items made for the bachelor pad with class: homewares, bar items, men’s grooming projects, furniture and more. Following two years as metro Detroit’s first pop-up retail shop, owner Joe Posch opened Hugh’s permanent location after being selected as the first Hatch Detroit winner. Like whiskey? Hugh stocks Michigan whiskey stones to chill your spirit alongside a know-it-all guide to virtually every whiskey in existence. For those who want shaving accessories from a former era, Hugh has a classic shaving kit and brush to treat yourself right. There’s enough barware here to make it feel like you’ve dropped into the set of Mad Men — Cylinda-light ice bucket and tongs, glassware, cocktail shakers, flasks — but there’s as much 1950s style here as there is modern day items. Like coffee? Posch carries classy, simple mugs with style and a selection of French Press makers. While the store carries items geared toward the bachelor, there’s plenty for anyone to peruse
