Among the most devastating guitar players in all of music history, Ron Asheton was born on this day in 1948. He passed away six years ago. Somewhere in-between there, in the 1960s, he settled in Ann Arbor with his brother Scott— and together they helped to form the Stooges, changed music history, and stuff. He later played in Destroy all Monsters and New Order (no, a different band of the  same name) and some other pretty great bands, too.

Mr. Asheton remains very much missed today.
