A 7-Eleven in Taylor will have a distinct honor bestowed upon it this afternoon. It’s franchisee, Rani Singh, will be crowned the first-ever Slurpee Queen.

Why is Singh becoming frozen beverage royalty? Well, it turns out the 7-Eleven franchise she runs on Ecorse Road sells more Slurpees than any other 7-Eleven in the United States of America.

7-Eleven has even dubbed metro Detroit “Slurpee Nation,” as the region is responsible for downing three-and-a-half times more of the frozen pops than any other region in the country.

The coronation takes place at 20945 Ecorse Rd., Taylor from noon to 3 p.m. To celebrate, 7-Eleven will supply free small Slurpees until 7 p.m. tonight. They’ll also be testing out a new Slurpee flavor, lemonade, at the store. Customers will be able to customize this flavor by adding raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, or mango flavors to the frozen drink.
