Detroit named one of the most youthful cities in North America

Detroit was named the 11th most youthful city in North America, and 25th overall according to a recent survey.

The Toronto-based YouthfulCities surveyed thousands of young people on topics including culture, employment, and sports to attempt to quantify which cities are most attractive to young people between 15-29. Detroit performed well in a number of areas, including Affordability and Film.

According to Kenneth Andejeski, a Detroit YouthfulCities representative, Detroit's ranking is a sign of a rebound from the recent recession. "Ahead of Moscow, Shanghai and Miami, just behind Seoul, Madrid and Dallas, Detroit’s ranking at 25th is indicative of the progress the city has made in recent years and the opportunity that stands before it," he says in a release.

"Half of the world’s population is under 30 years old and half now live in cities. Youth and cities — especially the largest ones — will together shape the future of the planet," YouthfulCities co-founder Sonja Miokovic says in a press release. "That’s why it is essential for cities to appeal to youth and actively find ways to unlock their potential."

Here are the top 25 most youthful cities in the world, according to the survey:
