There are said to be five stages of the grieving process — denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Even within this formula, everyone experiences loss deeply and personally, often out of sync with what we are conditioned to feel. Returning for its second year at the DIA is Natasha T. Miller’s “Science of Grief” — a 14-hour community conversation which invites those reeling from loss, to share their experiences in 15-minute segments spanning several types of grief. Several professional speakers will share their stories as well, and both clergy and therapists will be on-site for those in need of additional emotional support.

Science of Grief begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 through 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the Detroit Institute of Arts; 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-7900; dia.org; Event is free.
